怒江石豆兰 Bulbophyllum nujiangense

Rhizome stout, ca. 5 mm in diam., creeping, densly with many root s. Pseudobulbs greatly reduced, relatively small compared to leaf, without  obvious difference with rhizome, 0.5 – 1.5 cm apart from  each other  along the rhizome. Leaf one on each pseudobulb, ca. 12-20 ×2-3.5 cm, erect, leathery, fleshy, oblong-elliptic, acute. Petiole 10-13 cm. Inflorescences arising from the node of rhizome, erect, ca. 25 cm, 2 - 3 tubular sheaths at base of scape, 1.2-2.5 cm long, one spathe-like involucre sheathing at lower-middle of scape, ca.1. 8 cm long, rachis ca. 8 cm long, pendulous, sparsely with flowers.Floral bracts 6-6.5×2-2.5 mm, elliptic to lanceolate, acuminate, longer than ovary and pedicel, appressed to ovary and dorsal sepal, 3-veined. Ovary and pedicel ca. 2.5 mm long, ovary obconical. Flowers and bracts deep purple, column green, dorsal sepal ca. 4.5×3.5 mm, fleshy, ovate-triangular,acuminate, 3-veined, lateral sepals ca. 4.5 ×3 mm,fleshy, obliquely ovate, apex obtuse or subacute, base lower edges slightly connate, 3-veined, petals ca. 2×1.2 mm, much smaller than sepals, thin texture, oblong, obtuse, mucronate at apex, 1-veined, lip ca. 3×2.5 mm, ovate, fleshy and thickened, lingulate,  densely  papillose  adaxially,  deflexed, deeply grooved abaxially, apex blunt, column stout, 0.6 mm, spreading, with a bidentate stelidium on each side, spreading, upper dentate much more developed than lower one, column foot ca. 2 mm long, anther cap nearly square, spreading, apex truncate, pollinia 4 in two pair, inner slightly less than 1 / 2 as large as outer, two smaller inner ones connate at base like a “V-shaped, rostellum obtuse, spreading. Fl. Nov. to January. 

    The rhizomes are stout, about 5 mm in diameter, creeping many thick roots, smaller pseudobulbs, no significant difference from the rhizomes, 0.5-1.5 cm apart from each other, with a top leaf.

   Leaves erect, leathery or fleshy, oval oblong, about 12-20 × 2-3.5cm, apex acute, petiole 10-13cm.

The inflorescence is erect, about 25 cm in length, on the node of the rhizome. There are 2-3 tubular sheaths of 1.2-2.5 cm in length at the base of the scape, and an involucre-like involucre sheath of about 1.8 cm in length in the lower middle of the scape. The inflorescence axis is about 8 cm in length, drooping, sparsely flowered. Bracts 6-6.5 × 2-2.5 mm, elliptic to lanceolate, acuminate, longer than ovary and pedicel, adnate to ovary and dorsal sepal, 3-veined. Ovary and pedicel ca. 2. 5 mm, ovary oblong. Flowers and bracts dark purple, column green, abaxial sepals ca. 4.5 × 3.5 mm, fleshy, ovate-triangular, acuminate, 3-veined, lateral sepals ca. 4.5 × 3 mm, fleshy, oblique-ovate, apex obtuse or subacute, basal lower margin slightly connate, 3-veined, petals ca. 2 × 1.2 mm, much smaller than sepals, thin texture, oblong, obtuse, apex acuminate, 1-veined, lip petals ca. 3 × 2.5 mm, ovate, fleshy and thickened, ligulate, densely papillate, obtuse slightly reflexed, abaxial deep groove, apex obtuse, pistil column strong, 0.6 mm, flat, each side has a dentate pistil column, unfolded, upper dentate far more developed than lower part. Stamens ca. 2 mm, anther hat sublateral, spreading, apex truncate, pollen 4 pairs, interior slightly less than 1 / 2 large of exterior, connate of two smaller interiors at base like ' V-shaped, beak obtuse, spreading. Flowering November to January.
