Northwestern Yunnan ( Deqin area ). Born on forest rocks at an altitude of 2600 meters. Nepal, Bhutan also have. The type specimen is from Nepal.
This species is similar to Bulbophyllum yunnanense Rolfe. The difference is that the shape of lip, stamen tooth and stamen wing is different. | ||
Stem : Rhizome creeping rooting. Pseudobulbs narrowly ovate, surrounded by membranous sheaths when young, 1. 5-2. 5 cm long, 4-6 mm thick in the middle, except for the upper part of the arc lifted, the rest of the lying on the rhizome, close to each other, top 1 leaf. | ||
Leaves : Leaves leathery, oblong, up to 5.5 cm long, middle 9-12 mm wide, apex obtuse, base narrowed to 5-10 mm long stalk, upper midrib depressed, back bulged. | ||
Flowers : scape from the base of pseudobulb side, about 2 cm long, terminal 1 flower ; inflorescence stalk is very short, base with 2-3 cup-shaped sheath ; sheath membranous, larger at upper part, cup-shaped open ; bracts cup-shaped, about 5 mm long ; pedicel and ovary slender, 1.4-1.7 cm long, ca. 1 mm thick ; flower purple ; middle sepals oblong, 13 mm long, 6 mm wide above base, apex acuminate, with 7 veins, entire, how much involution on both sides above middle ; lateral sepals obliquely ovate-wide triangular, as long as middle sepals, 8 mm wide above base, apex acute, with 7 veins, slightly involuting above middle margin ; petals subobovate, 8 mm long, middle part 5.5 mm wide, apex obtuse, margin sparsely denticulate, with 5 veins ; lip pulp fleshy, tongue-shaped, outwardly bent, ca. 1 cm long, connected to the end of the stylet foot to form a fixed joint, with irregular teeth on both sides of the base ; the labial disc is sparsely verrucous, with a longitudinal groove, and the edges on both sides above the middle are bent downward. Each side has two folds with verrucous protuberances. The apex is blunt and strongly thickened and densely verrucous. The column is about 5 mm long ; stamens ca. 1 cm long, with separated parts ca. 2. 5 mm long ; the stamen wing extends forward below the middle of the stamen into a blunt triangle at the front end ; stamen column teeth triangular, about 1 mm long, apex acute ; medicine cap hemispherical, smooth, front end with 1 short beak-like protrusion.
