This species is very close to Dendrobium moniliforme ( L. ) Sw. The difference is that the stem of this species is short, swollen above the base, and then gradually thinning upwards. The lobes in the lip are semi-circular and triangular, which is easy to distinguish.
Stems : Stems erect, fleshy, 3-9 cm long, tapering from base upwards, 3-18 mm thick, unbranched, with 3-7 nodes, internodes 3-8 mm long, pale yellow-green, sometimes with mauve spots, pale yellow after drying.
Leaves : leaf leathery, 2-3 alternate in the upper part of the stem, oblique, ligulate oblong, 9-21 cm long, 5-7 mm wide, obtuse and slightly concave apex, base with a sheath holding stem ; leaf sheath membranous, persistent.
Flowers : racemes 1-3, from the upper part of the old stem with fallen leaves, with 1-2 flowers ; the peduncle is 2-3 mm in length, with 1-2 sheaths at the base. Sheath papery, ovate - lanceolate, 3-4 mm long, apex acute ; bracts pale white with chestnut, ovate, 3-4 mm long, apex acute ; pedicels and ovary pale yellowish green, 2-2.7 cm long ; flowers yellowish green, spreading ; middle sepals ovate-lanceolate, 12-14mm long, 4-5mm wide, apex obtuse, with 5 veins ; lateral sepals sickle - lanceolate, 12-14 mm long, 5-7 mm wide, apex obtuse, base oblique ; calyx sac subrectangular, 5-7 mm long, terminal suborbicular ; petals ovate - oblong, usually 12-15 mm long, 6-7 mm wide, apex obtuse, with 5 veins ; the labial lobe is nearly rhombic, about 1-1.5 cm in length and equal in width, wedge-shaped at the base and has a corpus callosum. The upper part is slightly 3-lobed, with dense short hairs between the lobes on both sides, and dense white hairs near the base. lobes semicircular - triangular, apex subobtuse, base densely white haired and with 1 yellow transversely elliptic patch ; stigma pale green, about 4 mm long, with 7 mm long stamen feet ; pistil base yellow, densely growing white hairs, occasionally dentate on both sides ; medicine cap green white, nearly hemispherical, length 1.5 mm, top slightly concave.
