This species is very similar to Vanda pumila Hook.f. in plant form, but the two rows of leaves are closer, the inflorescence is short, the flowers are drooping, the lips are distanceless, and it is easy to distinguish. The shape and structure of the labial petals are similar to those of Luisia Gaud.plants, but the leaves of this species are flat, and the shape of the peduncle and the lateral sepal of the flower is very different. | ||
Stems : Stems erect, ca. 5 cm long, ca. 1 cm thick, covered with many persistent leaf sheaths below middle. | ||
Leaves : Leaves slightly fleshy or thick leathery, most, two-row, outwardly bent, banded, often V-shaped below the middle, 10-11 cm long, about 1 cm wide, proximal obliquely truncated and with irregular pointed teeth, base with stem sheath. | ||
Inflorescences 2 or 3, 1.5-2.5 cm, 1-3-flowered; peduncle 1-2 cm; rachis 0.5-1 cm; floral bracts ovate-triangular, 2-3 × 1.5-2 mm, apex obtuse-acute. Flowers thickly textured, not widely opening, 1.5-2 mm in diam., fragrant; pedicel and ovary yellowish green, 1.2-2 cm; sepals and petals green to yellow-green, not tessellated. Dorsal sepal oblong-ovate, 11-15 × 4-6 mm, base cuneate, apex obtuse; lateral sepals ovate-lanceolate, 12-15 × 4-6 mm, base cuneate, apex obtuse-acute. Petals obliquely oblong-lanceolate, 10-13 × 3-5 mm, base clawed, apex obtuse-acute; lip green with a whitish base, basal sac maroon-purple, apical lamina striped violet, shorter than sepals, fleshy, base concave, spurless, deeply gibbous-saccate; lateral lobes suberect, abaxially yellowish green, adaxially reddish purple, suborbicular, 1.5-2.5 × 3-4 mm, apex rounded; mid-lobe abaxially yellowish green, adaxially reddish purple with yellowish stripes, ligulate-ovate, 9-12 × 6-7 mm, apex retuse or obscurely 3-lobed; disk sometimes with a small, short central ridge and 2 smaller central ridges on either side.
