It is produced in southeastern Tibet ( Chayu ), northwestern Yunnan, Sichuan, western Hubei, Shaanxi ( southern slope of Qinling Mountains ), southeastern Gansu and eastern Qinghai. Born at an altitude of 1500-3600 meters under the slopes of forests or shrubs. Type specimens were collected from Sichuan ( Songpan ).
In the specimens of Jiacha County of Tibet, No.4282 of the Tibet Chinese Herbal Medicine Investigation Team, Shennongjia County of Hubei Province, No.1185 of the Sino-American Investigation Team, the lip petals of most of the flowers of the same individual or the inflorescence of the same individual are 3-lobed, but the lateral lobes of the lip petals of a few flowers are 2-lobed, and the phenomenon of 4-5-lobed lip petals exists simultaneously. | ||
Plants 6.5-18 ( -21 ) cm tall. The tuber is nearly spherical, about 1 cm in diameter. Stems erect or suberect, glabrous, base with 1-2 cylindrical sheaths, upper with 1 leaf, 1-2 small sterile bracts above middle. Leaf blade erectly spreading, leaf blade oblanceolate-spatulate or elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, 4.5-10 cm long ( 2.5- ), 1.2-2.5 cm wide ( 1- ), apex obtuse or acute, base constricted into sheaths caging stem, usually without purple spots, rarely with purple spots. | ||
Racemes with several to many flowers, dense, 3-5 cm long ; inflorescence axis glabrous ; flower bracts lanceolate, erectly spreading, apex acuminate, lower part subequaling flower length ; ovary cylindrical spindle - shaped, 5-8 mm long, slightly curved, torsion, glabrous ; flowers purplish red or pink, biased to one side ; sepals close to 3 / 4 or more synthetic pocket, pocket length 6.5-8 mm, width 5-6 mm ; middle sepals lanceolate, concave, ( 5- ) 6-7 mm long, 1.6-2.5 mm wide, apex acute, with 1 ( -3 ) veins ; lateral sepals obliquely falcate lanceolate, ( 6- ) 7-8 mm long, base wide ( 1.5- ) 2-3 mm, apex acute, with 1 ( -2 ) vein ; petals linear lanceolate, ( 5- ) 6-7 mm long, 0.6-1.7 mm wide, apex acute, with 1 vein, appressed closely to middle sepals ; lips forward-extending, 6-9 mm long, with dense fine papillae above, base cuneate, 3-lobed below middle, linear ligulate lobes, ( 3.5- ) 4-5.5 mm long, 0.8-2 mm wide, apex acute, 3-5-veined, lateral lobe linear, apex acute, not lobed or slightly wider and 2-lobed ; 5-6 mm ( 4- ) long, distinctly narrow from base to end enlarged, slightly oblong, end slightly pointed.
